Is A Straight Line Really The Most Efficient Route?

Who: American and British researchers

What: These researchers have developed a mathematical model proving that a zigzag course is a more efficient way for humans to go up and down steep slopes, over a straight course. However as proven in previous researches, a straight course from point to point is more efficient.

Where: University of Washington

When: February 26, 2008

Why: This research was started because the researchers had questioned that even though as previously researched that a straight course is always shorter, that a zigzag course seemed more efficient.
